Welcome to Insane Clown Newsletter, a philosophical newsletter about the art of clown. I’m sure some of you are wondering, what the hell is clown? And, while I cannot promise you that by the end of all this (spoiler: there is no end to this) you will have a clear answer, at some point I will try my darndest to answer this time honored question. For now, you’ll just have to hold onto the mystery. To set the tone of this already INSANE newsletter, here’s what I’ll tell you. Clown is a way of seeing the world; a philosophy and a framework for interrogating what it means to be human. When you put on your clown-colored glasses, you can see things more poignantly, and, I believe, more clearly. There are so many kinds of clown, all with their own schools of thought. The kinda clown style I’m describing in this edition of ICN is based on my experience with three teachers in Los Angeles’ clown scene: Gemma Soldati, Dean Evans and Chad Damiani, one teacher from Spain, Aitor Basauri.

One last caveat before the first edition: I am by no means an authority on clown! I am in my clown infancy, a little chicken clown hatching out of my own clown egg and coming into this beautiful world full of wonder. But I am OBSESSED with clown and I am the authority on this newsletter. If you want to be in this newsletter or you have something to share, get in touch!
